Well, another year has come upon us and I am pleased to say that our Year Group has had another great year. A great year is a when people can say that they have had a positive achievement that is important to them.
Every person is unique and each has set their own goals to achieve. There are many types of accomplishments that our Year Group has achieved this year and many are not seen on a stage getting an award. The accomplishments include; becoming school captain, standing before a school trying out for school captain, completing class assignments on time and to the best of your ability, improving attendance at school, improving a relationship with a teacher or friend OR making a new friend.
Everybody in our Year Group has achieved something; little or small and I congratulate you all. The size of the achievement is irrelevant as an achievement of any kind is a step forward.
I am proud to be the Year Adviser of Year 9. You are a wonderful group of students who are very deserving of a bright future. I congratulate all Year 9 students on their achievement no matter how big or small. I look forward in continuing to support you all next year as you enter your final year at
Shalvey and continue to busily study for your School Certificate.
Shalvey Campus will provide you all with a supportive network of teachers, plentiful resources and opportunities to develop your skills through many types of programs. I ask you all to take advantage of this and make the most of your final year; make it successful for YOU!
I would like to thank Mr Lal for his support and assistance throughout the year. Unfortunately Mr Lal will be leaving us this year and has transferred to Chifley College Senior Campus. Mr Lal will be missed; however, it will be nice for our Year Group to have a teacher that they know over at the Senior Campus.
After saying good bye, I now welcome Ms Austen who will be our Assistant Year Adviser next year. She has a special bond with Year 9 and is keen to assist them in their final year as best as she can. A bonus for Year 9 is that Ms Austen is also the TAFE coordinator next year. Welcome Ms Austen and I look forward to working with you.
On behalf of Year 9 and myself, I would also like to thank all parents, staff and community organisations for the support that Year 9 has received over the year.
I wish all parents, students and members of the Shalvey community a very Merry Christmas and wonderful New Year.
Mrs Kokkotas
Year Adviser
